Media DJs

We are all Media DJs. Whether we are spreading or remixing the media we are taking part in the DJing process of media. Taking an original material and using the creativity of the prosumer and creating a new form of media. This has become the norm on the internet. The internet is no longer a place for people to take in information, but a place for people to share and create it. It has become a collective and collaborative project in many ways, actually. You have people combining memes with videos. Or, as per my GIF below, I combined a clip from George of the Jungle to express the effects of caffeine. These remixes are all over every corner of the internet. So these creations and recreations of media as well as the spreading of these promote every internet user as a Media DJ. Everything from webcam cover videos to parodies to Memes and GIF are a media being remixed by the audience of the internet and they work collectively as a group to decide what a Meme or GIF will represent. Like First World Problems, for example. Those are always being created and used all over the internet from Hashtags to Buzzfeed articles.
